Please Click here for information on the author, Dr. Michael Weinberg, Ph.D., BCBA.

Ethics and HIPAA CE course now available.  This is a 3 CE credit Ethics course for Behavior Analysts (BCBA & BCaBA) and Psychologists and School Psychologists (APA).  HIPAA is a federal law pertaining to confidentiality of paper and electronic client/patient information and records and includes procedures and penalties pertaining to patient personal medical information.  All BCBAs/ BCaBAs as well as psychologists must be aware of this federal law, how it affects you as a "health care practitioner," procedures required for ensuring confidentiality of client medical records and personal health-care information, and potential penalties for violating these laws.

HIPAA is a federal law and supercedes state law protecting healthcare information, and ethical standards of professional organizations.  Now is the time to complete this home-study course and obtain your Ethics CE credits to be fully informed about these laws and how to protect client confidentiality under the law.  Click the sun at the left for details and registration form.

2) Identify the key components of HIPAA law.

3) Identify the primary concerns or reasons for creation of HIPAA by the federal government.
